Horrible Movie Night

Next show is on March 13th "Terror in Beverly Hills" at 8:00 (Doors at 7:15)

Tickets are $8.00

This amazingly inept and stupefying actioner stars Frank Stallone as -- get this -- Hack Stone, a retired Special Forces soldier now running a martial arts studio.  When the President's daughter, while shopping in Beverly Hills, is kidnapped by terrorists, Hack is mobilized to get her back.  The leader of the terrorist organization has a score to settle with Hack, so he ups the ante by kidnapping Hack's family.  Now it's on like a Toyota gas pedal.

The ridiculousness in this movie knows no bounds.  An eight year-old with an Etch-A-Sketch could write a more cogent plot, although that movie wouldn't be half as hilarious.  We are treated to superlative stereotypes in a strip bar, the world's worst TV anchor broadcasting from what looks like a janitor's closet, and the President's colorful kaleidoscope of telephones.  There are flubbed takes, clunky ad-libs, and stilted ADR -- none of which made it to the cutting room floor where it belongs.  Truly, it's a jawdropper!

This movie also reunites Cameron Mitchell, and William Smith, two veterans of many Z-grade films, who previously appeared together in September '09's HMN, "Memorial Valley Massacre".  But it's Frank Stallone's picture, and he's pure gold with every word that muscles its way out of his mouth.

Hidden in bargain bins and dusty warehouses, the worst movies on the
planet lurk forgotten and unwatched. Horrible Movie Night exhumes
these cinematic disasters, and invites your biting barbs & witty
rejoinders. And if that's not enough, our improv group (The
Omelettes) takes the stage to mock the film even further. Don't let
these movies die alone.

A father and son fight to hold on to each other before drugs tear them apart.   The Actors Collective debut production returns from its sold-out previews in 2009 for a full five-week run.  Opening at the Actors Collective Theatre at The Complex on Friday, March 5 and running through Sunday, April 4th.  All performances will be at 8:00 PM.  Don’t miss this thrilling and dangerous joyride with strong and surprising performances.

Reinaldo Povod's emotionally charged family drama, Cuba and His Teddy Bear, takes you back to 1980s New York's Lower East Side; a gritty world where faith, family, love and drugs are the only pathway to redemption.  Produced by Joseph Papp and starring Robert DeNiro, Ralph Macchio and Burt Young, Cuba and his Teddy Bear had a sold-out world premiere in 1986 at New York’s Public Theatre, moving thereafter to Broadway.

CUBA AND HIS TEDDY BEAR is written by Reinaldo Povod and will be performed by Brian Burke (original member of The Actor’s Gym), David Alfano, Brandon Alter, Kyle T. Heffner, Josh Davis, Shannon McClain and Ricardo Mamood-Vega.  Charles Reed (former artistic director of The Detroit Center for the Performing Arts and winner of International Thespians Award) will direct, Brian Burke will produce.

Opening night is set for Friday, March 5 at 8:00 PM.  The show will run Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at 8:00 PM through Sunday, April 4th. THE MEDIA IS INVITED TO ATTEND OPENING NIGHT ON FRIDAY 3/5, AND IS ALSO WELCOME AT ANY OTHER PERFORMANCE.

Still Hungry Theatre Presents...
WINNER OF OUTER CRITICS CIRCLE AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING OFF-BROADWAY MUSICAL,
AND DRAMA DESK AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING MUSIC : Andrew Lippa's THE WILD PARTY

The roaring twenties, Manhattan. In a relationship marked by vicious behavior and recklessness (mirroring the time in which they live), Queenie & Burrs decide to throw a party to end all parties. As the guests arrive, we meet an assortment of people living on the edge. Queenie and Burrs set out to make each other jealous, but Queenie begins to fall in love with her conquest named Black. An award-winning score by Andrew Lippa provides excitement and drive for this tale of passions out of control. Capturing the sound of a bygone era with a nod to the present one, he makes us realize that moral decadence is not only limited to our past.

Face the City

The story of Face the City is set in the High School, College and the early professional lives of four friends (The Painter, The Composer, The Journalist, and The Performer) who begin with a shared dream of artistic invincibility. When one of them decides to take his own life, his pathway to destruction is explored by The Performer who is forced to come to terms with loss, compromise, and finally escape from his own false dreams as he discovers himself walking down a similar road. Integrating Rock, Theater, and Audio Visual Live Action & Animation in an unparalleled theatrical presentation, Face the City is an honest, moving, often hilarious, true story about redemption and the recapturing of innocence in a society that so readily tries to define who you are.
